Your Task: Create a soccer ball shaped graphic organizer that uses multiple levels of thinking to show many different aspects of a civilization.

Instructions:

1. Trace or print out 6 copies of the template below.

2. Each piece must be neatly designed and colored in some way.

3. The requirements for each panel are listed below:

a. Make a 3-panel comic strip showing something from the civilization.

b. Create a list of five laws that might have existed in this civilization. They should be specific to the culture not just stuff like “don’t steal.”

c. Choose one thing that the civilization did wrong in your opinion. In a paragraph, explain why it was bad and how they could have done it better.

d. Choose one thing that the civilization did right in your opinion. In a paragraph, explain why it was good and how they could have done it better.

e. Compare and contrast this civilization with another we have studied or to our modern world by creating a Venn Diagram. Include 3 similarities and 3 differences.

f. Make a line graph with “Year” on the X-axis and “Power” on the Y-axis. Plot at least four different points on your graph showing events from the civilization and whether those events raised or lower the power of the civilization.

g. Draw a map of the civilization.

h. Make a magazine advertisement for an invention or achievement from the civilization.

i. Write definitions in your own words for 3 key words from the civilization.

j. Summarize the history of the civilization in one paragraph.

k. Create a timeline with at least 3 major events from the civilization.

l. Write the name of the unit, the continent where it was located, the approximate years it started and ended, and two major people involved in it and your name at the bottom.

4. Carefully cut out the completed templates. Fold along each of the black lines and carefully glue, tape or staple the 6 pieces together to form your Bloom Ball.
