PowerPoint Tips for Teachers

Post date: Jul 3, 2015 2:33:07 PM

As promised here is my first tutorial on taking PowerPoint to the next level for your students. PowerPoint gets a bad rap in many circles that just isn't justified. It's like claiming a hammer is the fault for a poorly made house. It is simply a tool - and an incredibly powerful one at that. PowerPoint can do everything I have ever imagined. It is essentially a blank canvas. Our goal as educators should be to use that tool to its fullest. We should seek to make our presentations as engaging as possible. If we are just using it as a crutch then we are using it incorrectly.

These tutorials will be somewhat on the advanced side. I will teach in these like I teach in my class. I believe in giving my students information and then letting them learn by doing. I recommend taking what you see here and then playing around with it. You won't get it just by watching! You can always download my PowerPoints and use them as your starting point as well. That will let you look under the hood and see what is going on.

If you have any specific topics/tools you'd like to see addressed please let me know. Enjoy!
